The following are links to our information on the Consolidation Petition. It was started in 1998, taking two years to gather enough signatures to take it to
the Local Boundary Commission.
The vote was 4 to 1 against
consolidation!
The first link below is
ITA's stand on the
upcoming special mail-in election on Consolidation.
The second link below is
the same as #1, but in PDF form for downloading. This file is 31KB, so
have patience.
The third link is to the original petition itself.
The fourth is an editorial the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner wrote in November
of 1998,
Followed by a response written by Keven McGehee.
The letter ITA wrote in early 1999 to the Local Boundary Commission
follows that.
The final link is another PDF file,
ITA's Responsive Brief. August 1, 2000 was the deadline for that, then the LBC
held a one public hearing, which was a total waste of time because they
later announced that the issue would be decided on a list of points they
had. No one's testimony, therefore, was relevant.
